The Idea Miners: The One by P. W. Cross

— fantastic story tying the three books of the trilogy together

Has a Lord of the Rings feel for Kids!

Even though this is the third book in the series, this is my first foray into the world of the Idea Miners. Thankfully the ARC copy I was provided gave some explanation into the world and characters, but I still feel like I missed out a bit not having read the first two books. That being said, I really enjoyed the story and characters. I liked how the two worlds presented – the Land of Lights and the Land of Harvesters (our world) – had a symbiotic relationship. Ideas discovered in LoL would become the basis for knowledge and inventions in our world, which would in turn feed back to LoL. The ending had a bit of an 80s / 90s sitcom vibe (which you’ll know if you know), but thankfully it did not diminish the overall story in any way. The LoL had a Lord of the Rings for kids feel to it, and overall I felt the world was well thought out and vividly portrayed through the writing. This was a solid conclusion to the series, and I’m looking forward to going back and filling in the gaps with the other two novels.
